Location

Sterling is located 35 miles from Lincoln, Nebraska, 65 miles from Omaha, Nebraska and 170 miles from Kansas City, Missouri. Two interstate interchanges are within 50 miles of Sterling. Interstate 80 is 42 miles and Interstate 29 is 48 miles.

Transportation Services

Seven motor freight carriers serve the area; three are intrastate and four are interstate.

Sterling is 13 miles from the Tecumseh Airport. The airport, elevation 1180 feet, has a 3,500-foot, lighted, hard-surfaced runway. Private aircraft storage is available. Commercial air transportation is available at Lincoln Airport, 50 miles; Omaha Eppley Airfield, 77 miles; and Kansas City International Airport, 146 miles.

Burlington Northern Railroad serves the community with 28 freight trains per day. The nearest loading point is 15 miles away.

Utilities

Electricity - Nebraska Public Power District is Sterling's electrical supplier with 1500 kW capacity. The peak demand is 1146 kW. Statewide grid systems provide an additional power source when needed.
Natural Gas - UtiliCorp United/EnergyOne provides natural gas service for the village of Sterling.
